The Pine of Wonder grows between rocks on the ridge east of the Volcano Jade Pool, at an altitude of 1,012 m. The prominently bare crag forms a stand on the mountaintop, on which the four square stone pillars are of varied height and size, resembling seals, thus nicknamed "divine seals". A pine tree aside struggles tenaciously in between crevices, yet full of vitality and vigor, hence called "wondrous pine". An ascent up the stone support allows a broad field of vision all around, in particular the vast forest landscape. Legend goes that Xu Xun, also Xu Zhenjun, after seizing a monstrous dragon, failed to suppress it with his own treasured seals as expected, which took root and were converted in the wind into what they look to be today.
Aerial Stand, perches 2 km east of "The Volcano Jade Pool", with an altitude of 1,064 m. The mountaintop comprises of a lofty crag as a whole, possibly allowing scores of tourists. All around are escarpments and precipices, high and steep, on which visitors can watch spectacular sunrise and sunset. A midair overlook here affords a fascinating view of an immense forest in Sanbai Mountain, even as far as the skyline.
The first waterfall at the Dongjiangyuan is counted as the most distinguishing scenic spot across Sanbai Mountain, 0.5 km north of the Volcano Jade Pool, which makes the iconic landscape with its majestic drop close to 100 m.The Chinese characters "Dongjiangyuan" inscribed in the cliff on the left side of the waterfall, were titled by Mr. Ye Xuanping, former vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee. Both its sides are precipitous cliffs with towering trees. Roughly 50 m to its right perches a natural Glass Viewing Stand, a protruding giant rock admitting dozens of visitors. Around its edge stand clustered odd trees, forming a godsend balustrade, defending tourists for waterfall viewing. Far in the distance, the broad view rolls out a relaxing and refreshing portrait of green mountains among a vast stretch of forests.
The treasured ding, in Chinese, was cast in 2007 with public donations from the trio, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Hong Kong, to mark the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. The vessel holds three legs, signifying the friendly sentiments rooted in mutual water-source preservation and attachment. The tripod adopts a round design symbolizing reunion and jubilation, with a total weight of 4.65 tons, and height of 4.65 m, standing for the distance of 465 km from Anyuan to Hong Kong.
The Jiuquxi scenic spot, stretching out 5.18 km2, here refers to a stream converging hundreds of creeks in Sanbai Mountain, full of twists and turns in its zigzag course through surrounding sandwiching mountains and dense forests, leaving shallow shoals or deep ponds one after another.The string of main scenic spots include Breast-Like Peaks, Plough-tip Peak, Shiyi Flying Spring, Diaogou Pond, Tieban Cliff, Surfacing Giant Mussel, Finger Cliff, Sacred Alligator Lake and others.
On the southern edge of the Sanbai Mountain core area, the Volcano Jade Pool on the volcano is secluded in a small inter mountain basin, formed naturally with an area of 0.2 km2 and a sea level of 900 m.The pool used to be a crater several hundreds of millions of years ago, thus gaining the reputation as "The Volcano Jade Pool", Yaochi, namely abode of fairy mother goddess. The lake retains water at a certain level all year round, also labeled as "source lake". Hidden in surrounding high mountains and dense forests, the paradise remains isolated far from human habitation.
